1372944 2014-04-17 22:17:00 I have been worried that my 4TB drive is getting a bit full.

So it is good news that PB tech are now stocking 6TB drives.

But I will need to rob a bank to be able to get one.

I suppose they will start to make less high spec ones and I think there are now 3 manufacturers making drives bigger than 4TB.

1372946 2014-04-18 03:45:00 Its an enterprise drive @ PBTech, that's one reason its so expensive. Enterprise drives always cost more due to higher quality than the usual drives most people use.

One huge problem with big drives, WHEN they fail you will have needed more storage on other drives for backups. ANY drive can and does fail, just a matter of when.

1372947 2014-04-18 04:36:00 I have plenty of space but I don't use anything above a 2tb
as Wainuitech said easier to backup and manage.

.

So why not buy 2 3tbs then?

What do people have on them? My ancient 250GB has 188Gb used.....

I bought 1 4TB a while back and have struggled to fill it even keeping a lot of stuff I don't really need, Storage is getting huge.

Remember when CD's first came out and it was amazing to think that whole libraries of data could fit on one disk, now 700M seems miniscule and my phone has a 32GB micro SD card that looks like a tiny flake of plastic that broke off a toy or something.

I have just joined the forum to be able to PM you but I did not see any way of sending a PM so please forgive me for interupting a Thread. N1ck (17245)
