1373017 2014-04-19 09:35:00 I am working through Easter this year. I love working on statutory holidays as I get paid time and a half and get a day in lieu.

This business of swearing on the bible in court. Surely people who object to swearing on the bible are allowed to make an affirmation.

1373019 2014-04-19 20:18:00 I get pretty angry when non Europeans say to me are you opening on Good Friday or Easter Monday?, like it is a Christian festival and this a Christian country. Just imagine if I went to their filthy country and tried the same on their religious festival holidays they would be severe consequences. I dont like doing work for these people anyway because they are only fixated on price and you are never sure you are going to get your money. What I do with their vehicles at the workshop is block them out with one of my heavy vehicles or a good customers vehicle until they have paid. prefect (6291)
1373020 2014-04-19 20:38:00 And you need to shop every day of the year? the other 359 not enough?
.

Apparently.

Going past Pak N Save yesterday, the carpark was full, cars driving randomly around in circles. Ditto the Mitre10 next to it.

So presumably people knew Friday things were closed, so 1 day, and they are starving and need to all rush to the shop Saturday?

However, even though you see this madness Boxing Day too, I think it should be up to each shop whether they open or not. After all, as they pointed out on the news, online shopping is 365 days....

1373021 2014-04-19 21:32:00 I have no problem with shops opening at Easter so long as they are forced to give their staff time off in lieu the following week

Won't happen. As soon as the shopping malls get to open on Easter and Xmas Day the staff will be forced to work just as they are now on public holidays.. You can then kiss those goodbye as public holidays. Of course the mall owners and politicians will have the time off..

It's law . It's not a matter of choice .

Work a public holiday and get time and a half and a day in lieu .
Whereever it is, whatever work it is .

1373024 2014-04-20 04:08:00 What planet are you living on?

Planet reality. The retail industry want Easter holidays gone so that they can open and force staff to work. As soon as they get those holidays gone Xmas will be next. Anzac will be safe as it is..

Gone huh. No, they want to be able to open on those day. No-one wants a public holiday gone. Don't be stupid, get your facts right first.
