2014-10-23 19:39:00 | I have been trying to install Microsoft's Movie Maker from Microsoft Essentials 2012. I have an install error "Will not install as another program seems to be blocking". Is it possible to install as from what I have read, maybe Movie Maker can't be installed on 8.1?

Windows Movie Maker is pretty limited in its capabilities. |

2014-10-23 20:39:00 | Thanks guys. I found a download for win movie maker 2.6 and that has installed. I'll try it out and see if it does what I want it too. I'm not wanting much at this stage. | Bryan (147) | |
2014-10-23 20:54:00 | Its a wonder that installed, 2.6 is 7 years out of date, that was in Vista. All you should have to do is download the Essentials installer 1.2MB, then select Windows Gallery and Movie maker, and it downloads & installs. It may ask you to install .net but that's only if its not already there in W8.1

2014-10-23 21:07:00 | I have done as you suggested but to no avail. I get an error code 0X80070643. According to Microsoft, I should turn on the Microsoft Firewall - but it's already on! | Bryan (147) | |
2014-10-23 22:14:00 | Looks like that 0x80070643 error, can also mean a permission prob. It cant access a folder when you install a program. You have to take ownership of a folder to fix it www.thewindowsclub.com

2014-10-24 03:19:00 | Still no luck. I have resorted to installing Youtube Movie Maker, much easier. It was available at CNET and without any obvious CNET add ons. | Bryan (147) | |
2014-10-25 19:54:00 | I had been trying to install using Essentials 2012. I have now used Microsoft Live and the Movie Maker has installed without problem. | Bryan (147) | |
