Now getting "Couldn't load XPCOM." What is the easiest way of sorting this out please?.

1386469 2014-10-20 00:49:00 Do you have FF on your system? Could be that not loading properly.

1386470 2014-10-20 00:56:00 Thanks. I have reinstalled Firefox and the problem is solved. I guess I should have done that in the first place. Not thinking too fast these days. It looks like xpcom.dll was missing. Pato (2463)
1386471 2014-10-21 10:48:00 Weren't you also getting problems with IE not loading? Sounds to me like these problems likely come from the same cause. Agent_24 (57)

I am not quite sure how to tackle the problem. I have given up on IE. I am not completely sure that FF is 100% either.

1386473 2014-10-21 21:07:00 The startup repair issue (and others) could have been triggered by file corruption, possibly by faulty RAM or HDD, or maybe a virus. Agent_24 (57)
