1386265 2014-10-14 03:06:00 They have just put down UFB cable in our street.

I was wondering if many of you in this situation have upgraded to UFB.

Is it much dearer than your current broadband?

What about routers and modems etc.

If you have not upgraded - why not?

I think that the government is subsidizing the connection to your house for a while.

1386267 2014-10-14 04:13:00 Been on it for a year. Went with snap as plan was cheaper than any alternative at the time.
We got free connection and modem, free national calling and 100Gb for $75 a month

1386268 2014-10-14 05:44:00 Would go to Spark fibre, but wife refuses to pay the extra $10/month(not worth the grief to push this).

Have been looking at changing to Vodafone fibre to save $14/month. Everyone that I have asked about Vodafone has said the product is good, but the backup is hopeless when things go wrong, bills are always getting stuffed up, and be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes if you ring them.

1386269 2014-10-14 07:08:00 Yes, upgraded as soon as it was available. Only $20/month from what we were on to jump to 100Mbps unlimited fibre, can't see any downside. inphinity (7274)

1386271 2014-10-14 08:50:00 Anyone know who my republic are?

They are from Singapore and apparently have stirred things up there with some good plans. (all according to my brother-in-law who lives there.)

No - I have, but I didn't have any choice.
We built a new house in Carterton in a new subdivision with only fibre and no copper.

Actually, the fibre was all very low-key and when the owners of the first house moved in,
a guy turned up to connect the phone and had to call his boss " ..I can't find the copper pair .."
