361889 2005-06-07 13:19:00 I am working on a Soltek SL-85DIV mobo with a double-sided PC2100 266 DDR chip. Unfortunately, it only registers 128MB. Do some mobos not handle double-sided DIMMS? The mobo manual doesn't say anything about single-sided chips so how does one know what to put in? This one was put in by the machine assembler so they didn't know, either.

Enlightenment appreciated.

361890 2005-06-07 14:33:00 Some motherboards are very fussy about what modules they are compatible with. Normally the only failsafe way to know is to read the motherboard manual.

How do you know that the current installed module is 256Mb? Try installing it into a board that you know accepts double sided ram and see what it recognises it as.

361891 2005-06-07 22:14:00 It has 256MB on its label and I have put it into my main mobo and it shows as 256MB .

Thanks for reply .

361892 2005-06-07 23:47:00 Ooops, shouldn't have relied on Everest. The mobo is actually a VIA P4X266 PR22.
Guess it is just one of those RAM/Mobo incompatibilities. Could be expensive buying and trying!
