Security firms issue warnings of Trojan attacks Read full article here (www.earthtimes.org) More exceprts below. ...warned that it was a three-pronged attack involving three Trojans- Glieder, Fantibag and Mitglieder. These viruses are supposed to unleash a co-ordinated malware attack (CMA). Security researchers say that these three have been combined so as to maximize the potency of the attack. The Glieder opens backdoors that are exploited by the follow-on Trojans, CA said adding, " The apparent objective is to get to as many victims as fast as possible with a lightweight piece of malware." The Fantibag Trojan disables the security of infected systems, while the Mitglieder renders the systems defenseless and leaves them under the control of the hackers. Most people think, "What would they want with my PC ?" We need to take the security focus away from "direct" hackers and tell people that the internet is a like dirty "drinking water". i.e. you need to filter your consumption of the information you get. |

Security experts said computer users should protect themselves by ensuring anti-virus programs are updated. The attachment, which arrives in the blank e-mail, is a zip file that tries to download a trojan horse from a pre-selected list of websites when it is opened. The virus, once activated, sends itself out to all the e-mail addresses it finds on the computer's hard drive.
