Whats wrong with using 98SE? Much better than 98 V1.0 anyway...

362076 2005-06-08 08:00:00 Hiya pctek,

Ive been a good li'l soldier and alway's upgraded. the 98se ver. I have is an upgrade model and according to the MS help people does not contain a stand alone version of 98se.

Since I posted earier, the spectre of how this impacts on my xpPRO upgrade software is giving me cause for concern. I used the win 98se upgrade disk as authenticity for the upgrade edition (xp was installed on a second hand pc that had an oem home edition on it, but came with out any S/w).

Logically (but we are talking about MS here :illogical), as it is an entirly different platform, it theoretically (MS :illogical again), should not be of concern... but still.......

362077 2005-06-08 08:51:00 if you are trying to install an upgrade edition of 98SE with out a quailifing product, there is a wee hack. basicly you moddify a boot disk. don't ask how as its against the forum rules. tweak'e (69)
