363548 2005-06-13 10:26:00 Hi,

It sounds like you may need to update your anti virus software's definition list.

But before doing that you can do some manual repairs to enable you the opportunity to be able to successfully access the updates for your antivirus software.

Do the following:

Click START, select Run, type REGEDIT, and click OK

This will open the Registry Editor window

Clicking the + signs in left panel of Registry Editor to expand the branches navigate you way to this location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

With the Run folder in left pane high lighted, look now inside the right pane for the following value:

MsConfigs = MsConfigs.exe

If you see it, right click on it and select Delete

Now in left hand pane navigate to each of the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunServices HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Lsa

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\RunServices

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Lsa

In each case look in the right pane for the following value:

p2pnetwork = p2pnetwork.exe

If present, right click on it and select Delete

Press F5 key to save changes, then Close Registry Editor window.

Reboot your computer

Go online and check for latest antivirus updates for what ever antivirus programme you use.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Note: The default way to do this for all pc's is to hold down the F5 key as soon as PC starts to reboot, and keep holding it down until a list appears that gives you the opportunity to boot into Safe Mode.

In many cases holding the F8 key will also achieve the same.

Execute you antivirus programme and run a full system scan

Allow the software to delete any malicious, or infected file found.

You now ought to be able to reboot your pc virus free.

Timothy

Cheers :)
