Athlon64 3000+ (socket 939)
Via K8T880 chipset
2x512MB dual channel memory
Seagate 120GB SATA HDD
17" CMV LCD monitor
LG dual layer 8x DVD burner
Floppy drive

With video-editing/rendering, the more memory the better. Big hard drives recommended as well as digital video files can be huge. The SFF box comes with two Firewire ports; the majority of digital video cameras support Firewire. The Soltek box also includes Gigabit ethernet port and the drive cage has slots for two 5 1/4" and two 3 1/2" drives so you can have two hard drives (+ floppy drive) or two optical drives in the Soltek computer.

You may consider going with a Pentium 4 processor, because of the built-in Hyperthreading feature. Some video editing apps can take advantage of Hyperthreading, which will result in increased performance of the software.

363248 2005-06-14 01:37:00 Off the top of my head I think P4's run encoding slower with HT enabled unless the program is specifly coded to run on a 2 cpu system, I would assume that the vast majority of home user video apps don't have this ability and the high end ones might even require a special lisence to make use of the extra capabilities.

This isn't stated as fact though, Just something that might warrent looking into.

A cheap dual core P4 would even be good for video editing. E.g. Intel Pentium D 820 2.8GHz Dual Core for $392.63.

And from 6 . 3 . 0 . 0 by the looks of it also supports AMD 64 bit CPU's .
