| 363450 | 2005-06-14 16:05:00 | Hi guys! Strange thing happened . After I uninstalled 500MB, I restarted PC, but it did not help . Switched it of and after several hours 500 MB were there! Any explanations? :( I sincerly doubt the time off had anything to do with regathering the missing area . After all, we know the cobbler's elves don't make housecalls, nor are they wont to repair computers either . However, there might be an answer . I know that XP is very busy during the times you leave the puter alone to just do nothing, and that's a built-in housecleaning that XP does . When you are not really active on the puter or not running a program that requires a lot of processor, XP will shuffle things around, maximising the file allocation areas and tidying up a bit . Now I believe that you would NOT see the effects of this housekeeping while it is happening, ie, a defrag . The results probably won't be posted untill XP is done with them . Kinda like it saying: "Look at what I did for you" . Besides, we all know the routine that many installs/uninstalls require a restart (hot or cold boot) to make things really take effect . Hope I'm right, if not, I'll hear about it . . . LOUDLY! :dogeye: |
