364100 2005-06-15 04:55:00 Hi

I have a NEC dvd writer and had windows 2000 installed and it was working all well , i then decided to do a clean install to Windows Xp Pro , and now it wont pick up as a DVD Writer   . It picks it up just as a Cd rom / dvd rom drive and not a dvd writer . I have upgraded the firmware as well as the os etc but still neither Nero 6 or Windows will pick it up , it does however pick up the model number in Device Manager :badpc: :badpc:

Any Ideas ?

364101 2005-06-15 05:34:00 Did u follow on how to flash the burner properly??

Does the BIOS detect the burner? When you boot the PC, does the post screen show the brand/model of the burner?

Check the BIOS, and see what the BIOS detects the burner as .

Did version 6 of Nero, come with the burner??

Or did u have a previous version of Nero (that came with the burner), and update Nero?

364102 2005-06-15 06:18:00 - yes the burner was flashed correctly and the problem was there even before the flashing
- the bios does detect and show the brand/model of the writer
- no i am using a version of nero that didnt come with the burner , i have a OEM version - Should i be using that instead ?

364103 2005-06-15 06:33:00 If Nero 6 has a Nero 6 serial, it shouldnt be a prob .

What was the old version of Nero? V6 as well?? Or V5 . xx?

If the old version was V6, and you're using the same serial # for the later version of Nero, it may not work (Nero wont detect the burner) .

As you've found out . The serial for the OEM version maybe tied to that version of Nero (the older/OEM version) - (and the burner) .
