364018 2005-06-15 02:03:00 after spending a whole night installing gentoo (from universal disc 2005.0)
and get it running..
i've updated the portage tree
and updated the portage itself
and run emerge enlightenment
x11 also got installed
so did the other dependencies

now when i type in startx
it still evendually comes back to the command line
after trying to load itself

now.. i know there is a few config files that i'm supose to edit
but.. what exactly are they and where they are..i've no idea
is there a guide out there that is targeted specifically at this?

You need to configure X itself before you run it. All linux distros as far as I know do it the same 2 or 3 ways. See www.gentoo.org

Set enlightenment in there. You can also set Entrance as your xdm, then:
rc-update add default xdm
