363805 2005-06-14 06:31:00 Well, I'm planning on building my first computer, and I've got all the parts picked out from NewEgg, and I think they're all compatible, but I'm not 100% sure. I'd be uberhappy if you could help me out. :D

363807 2005-06-14 07:00:00 Welcome to PressF1 :)

At a quick glance, your first big problem is your computer case and it's power supply - 235W will simply just not work. Either keep the case and get a separate new PSU of at least 350W (high quality brand) or about 450W general brand PSU, or find a better quality case with a higher rated PSU.

Moved this thread to the correct forum as well.

363808 2005-06-14 07:15:00 I'm from the States.

And thanks for the power supply, I was going to check that, but I guess I forgot. Sorry about putting it in the wrong forum, by the way.

363809 2005-06-14 07:41:00 Never heard of Pacific Digital optical drives - so can't comment on that one. Presumably you checked out a few reviews on it?
And absolutely defintely NOT that motherboard!!! ECS = Extremely C*** System.
Get the A8N-SLI for top board or at least a decent brand.

363810 2005-06-14 07:46:00 Those ECS Nforce4 boards have had very positive reviews for the segment they exist in, I built up a rig a couple weeks ago with that exact board and she was a beauty (a budget orintated gaming beauty but a beauty none-the-less).

And ECS seem to have come to grips with the few boards from a couple years back that had a high failure rate, I can't see any reason to bag that board (Judging it for what it intends to be, The cheapest Nforce4 board on teh market)

Fast,stable,good set of features, Value.

So would you recommend that board? Have you had any problems with it yourself?

363812 2005-06-14 09:44:00 If it fits the budget your working to then yes, If your just saving money for the sake of it then I would suggest spending a few dollars more for something else.

As to the rig I built, it was for a customer, They report no problems and I don't expect them to.

If I was building it for myself then I would be quite happy to use one, It is the cheapest option to step up to an Nforce4 chipset.
