| 363663 | 2005-06-13 19:38:00 | The Fedora Project (http://fedora.redhat.com/) has just released Fedora Core 4 for those that are interested. :) It is available in CD or DVD formats for 32-bit x86, 64-bit x86 and PowerPC (PPC) architectures. Download (fedora.redhat.com) and torrent (http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/) information. The ISO's normally end up on the jetstreamgames.co.nz servers in a day or so. Fedora Core 4 Release Notes (fedora.redhat.com) Installation guide (fedora.redhat.com) Additional Fedora Core user guides (http://fedoranews.org/) - they normally put up an installation guide which includes putting the final polishing touches to the system so look out for one there shortly. |

Otherwise, it looks like a nice release :) Does this mean Chilling is going to change from Gentoo to Fedora :p Will miracles never cease :) As far as Xandros is concerned, nice look; I think it lasted one day on my harddrive .. which isn't bad...Mandrake 10.1 lasted 4 hours (and numerous reboots.. my usb mouse kept freezing it, even though I had enabled usb and serial mice). Every time I connected the balled ps2 mouse it went sweet.. but I like my optical usb mouse too much :D |

X will not load with glx running . Hmm . . . that reminds me of the release (Core 3?) that had the 4K Stacks by default in the kernel which killed the then current nVidia driver  - didn't take too long for nVidia to release an updated driver with 4K Stack support . Any idea how long after the O/S comes out before DickSmiths have it on the shelves for sale? Not sure, as there is the commercial printing etc of the CD's to be done . I see the ISO's have started to appear on the ftp://linux . jetstreamgames . co . nz/dist/fedora/4/ server, with the i386 DVD ISO now available so far . . . Does this mean Chilling is going to change from Gentoo to FedoraI think Chill will change from Gentoo as his main distro to Fedora the same day I reinstall WinME on my computer ;) Already? Oh bugger . . . . Oh yeah, that reminds me . . . just for general information, you do know Core 2 is now in the Legacy Project (http://fedoralegacy . org/) a . k . a End of Life products of Fedora . . . ;) I won't be installing Core 4 on my main system straight away, I like to wait a week or two first :p |

At least get 2000 Pro :p I checked with DickSmith New Plymouth.. they reckon itll be 3 days or so. Oh the wait, I have been waiting for like 2 or 3 weeks now By the way, decided to go with Xtra (yes had a look at Orcon, Paradise, and Telstra (which runs Paradise). Orcon had no special, Telstra was $1 cheaper on all plans, but required a change with the homeline to them. After much thought just thought go with Xtra. Should be connected Thur (but I dun wanna blow my months bandwidth downloading FC4). Adsl switch/modem arrived today (blinking teasers) Oh the waiting :horrified two days for adsl and two more for FC4 |
