| 364739 | 2005-06-17 11:14:00 | Go to Control Panel -> add/remove programs. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click IE, click add/remove and there is a selection for repair. | Safari (3993) | ||

| 364741 | 2005-06-17 14:53:00 | Thanks, but .... 1) In Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs IE does NOT appear - possibly because it was (?) pre-installed alongwith Win XP Pro rather than as a separate program ..... 2) The link looks complicated at this hour of the night - certainly ALL OE files appear to NOT be read only ..... 3) Admin OE loads up okay as per normal. It's just the OE under My User id - has some file been corrupted under that user , I wonder .... ? Until tomorrow ... |

| 364743 | 2005-06-18 00:48:00 | Okay; Add/Remove gives access to Add/Remove Windows Components I have done that with just OE checked and it removed it from the start menu (in other words that item in the start menu then had no functionality) ( I tried first with IE) So when I ran it again with OE checked/ticked I got back to square one, namely OE flashes up and instantly closes again Yet under user admin there is no such problem. So what has happened to this user ...... :( |

| 364745 | 2005-06-29 12:14:00 | :) Thanks everyone, especially for the links which I found quite daunting. The problem appears to have been BlackIce firewall which I was VERY new to. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting down BlackIce but I would need to be much more proficient, patient and alert before using BlackIce again. It seems to be very detailed with it's repetitive warning pop-ups and I obviously was less than alert when clicking away at these pop-up alerts and must have clicked a negative response to something that required a positive response, thus blocking Outlook Express from even 'loading' ! The 'fix' for me was to uninstall BlackIce and install ZoneAlarm in it's place and instant success. All my previous firewall experience is with Zone Alarm :) :horrified Shame about the HP pop up = that sort of advertising leaves me COLD !!!!!!! :mad: Goodbye |
