364416 2005-06-16 11:35:00 For some reason my network on my gigabyte GN700L motherboard stopped working. The BIOS says its still there although it says its "unknown", the drivers are missing and windows XP keeps trying to find a video card (although the video drivers are all there). The PCI-PCI bridge Device is missing on the Device manager (usual ? beside it)

Trouble is I cannot reload the drivers for the PCI Bridge or the network card from the CD that came with the motherboard. Removing the drivers only measn that on reboot WinXP starts searching again

364417 2005-06-16 11:53:00 What have you done to your computer recently? Any hardware, software changes that lead up to this?

Sounds like you may have to find updated drivers for the motherboard.... try Gigabyte Home (http://giga-byte.com)

364418 2005-06-18 09:48:00 Thanks, I've tired the latest giga-byte drivers to no success.
Trouble was I didn't do any changes of recent...I wondered about viruses but it would have get past Zone alarm security suite with all the latest.
Problem is that no matter what I can't get the OS to recognise right drivers

Why? What happens if you point XPs hardware found wizard to the correct file on the CD??

364420 2005-06-18 11:34:00 Maybe something on the motherboard has failed or gone insane. Agent_24 (57)
364421 2005-06-19 11:25:00 the boot screen says that the device is "unknown" (the correct slot/bus/device number)...I'm n ot sure if it said this before. makes me wonder if the BIOS needs updating Toshi (8365)
364422 2005-06-19 11:38:00 You could try updating the BIOS, but it really is a last ditch effort.
I would try and find drivers for the motherboard first. Use Google.

364423 2005-06-27 10:41:00 Updating /flashing the bio didn;t work neither did reinstalling WinXP on the nard drive. Better send the board back to gigabyte Toshi (8365)
364424 2005-06-27 23:24:00 You sure this is a Gigabyte mobo??

There are no motherboards starting with GN, on the gigabyte site.

Only GA-7, GA-8, GA-K8, or 8xxx, 7xxx, or others.
