What are you using to try to write DVDs? Did it come with bundled software? Or did you install some yourself from another source? OR are you using Windows to do it? Have you tried different media? |

| 364263 | 2005-06-16 09:14:00 | i was meaning, i see this is "my computer" where all the drives are displayed. it doesnt matter what software i use it doesnt burn ie windows burning software or nero. it just doesnt burn. ill have to translate the error message but i think it was saying that i need to insert a clean and empty dvd? ill right out the full translation later the media i am using is a sony DVD + RW. the pc shop gave this to my grandfather and said it is the best media for it and it will work, well it hasnt yet. is this the right media? im trying to burn lots of digital photos. |

| 364265 | 2005-06-16 09:31:00 | If you are using Digitex cd's/dvd's to burn to then the MSI DVD RW does not yet support this disk, however it does support most, including the often unsupported princo disks. The only other thing that springs to mind from reading your post is that you appear to have two optical disk players. One an LG, and the other the MSI. If that is correct, then check the back of each to ensure that one is the Master, and the other one is the Slave to it. The LG ought to be the master. The only other thing to point out is that the MSI DVD Rw's are not driver fussy, sop you can run it on a Nero driver. On the off chance the driver is the cause of the issue you could consider changing it. If all of this is irrelevant and the real issue is that what you are attempting to burn to DVD is just too large for the disk you are burning it to, then download a copy of DVD Shrink, which is free, to compress the files prior to burning. Regards, Timothy |

| 364266 | 2005-06-16 10:55:00 | the pc is about half a year old and they have never used the dvd burner yet. i am also thinking it could be faulty. i just had a look inside the case and this is the set up: 1 IDE cable has the HDD as master and the LG drive as slave, i dont know what the jumper on the LG is set as, does it matter? the other IDE cable has the burner as a master on the secondary channel i think.... and again i dont know the jumper setting. its all still under warrenty, so i might just drop it in, its just down the road anyway..... |
