364158 2005-06-15 09:19:00 hey everyone, I've just got xtra adsl set up, the basic pack, with a free modem, I know it pretty slow, but im pretty poor! Anyways, I was wondering if there were any settings I could change to optimise it? I remember that I could change settings for my dial up modem to give it more bandwidth and such, and i was wondering if there is anything I can do for my adsl?
thanks heaps everyone!

There are tweakes you can try out: www.nzadsl.co.nz
Read the warning about registry changes first though.

What? Read Jen's post, the registry file on there does improve your speed because windows limits the number of connections.

364162 2005-06-15 21:28:00 Yes I know. Its like with dialup, same kind of tweaks and things were done. However its not going to make any kind of major difference. You are limited to whatever speed you chose with the ISP. And of course, downloading depends on the server, traffic, lots of things. Yesterday I downloaded a patch for someone, first website 40 - next 74, next mirro finally, 107.
All the tweaks in the world would have made no difference.
