| 364156 | 2005-06-15 08:03:00 | Some games like the Sims release cd version of the game as well as a dvd version.Are they the same? My father says yes.IF the answer is yes.Whats the point of releasing the game in dvd when cd is alot cheaper? |

The gameplay will not be any different between CD<->DVD version, but typically the DVD versions have extra content (be it demos of upcoming games, behind-the-scenes looks at the game, wallpapers/art from the game, stuff like that). Nothing deal-breaking or deal-making, just ... stuff. Also, DVD is the way of the future - it is not any cheaper to produce games on CD than on DVD when it takes 6 CD's to hold the data of one DVD. (I'm not sure of manufacturer's prices, but given the prices of blanks I think I can safely say that one DVD is cheaper to press than 4-6 CDs.) |
