364168 2005-06-15 07:29:00 With my old computer I had it set so when explorer opened it opened in the folder I wanted.

Now with a new computer it always opens in My Documents.

I've forgotten how to change it. Can anyone help

Thanks in advance

C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,D:\Documents

and in the Start In field:

%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

This opens Explorer at my D drive's Documents folder. Change yours to suit your folder's path.

364171 2005-06-15 08:47:00 Two options that spring to mind for achieving your goal would be as follows.

By way of example I'll assume you are using Windows XP, and would rather Explorer open at the C drive, rather than My Documents.

Option 1:

Click Start
Select Run
Type EXPLORER C: and click OK

Option 2:

Right click empty spot on Desktop and select New | Shortcut
Under the Type the location of the item: type the following:

%SystemRoot%\explorer c: and click Next

Under Type a name for this shortcut: type a name you want then click Finish

If you prefered you could also write a batch file to do the same as the Shortcut, but in this instance a basic shortcut would suffice.
