364617 2005-06-17 10:23:00 You don't have to go to "ahem sites" to get that virus. I have found it on computers that have not been anywhere near any "ahem sites".

But to be on the safe side Cicero, you should immediately pour a 4" wide strip of neat Jeyes Fluid on the ground right around the outside of the house.

We just can't be too careful with this matter!

I would, but have you seen the price of Jeyes Fluid? ;)

364619 2005-06-17 10:32:00 That is because it contains all the updates since the last program update.

Can you not double click the Java icon and open its control panel?
I can,but what then? Can't see anything about plug ins.
Meantime G_F seems to be having more luck than me,AVG is down still in my neck of the woods.
But thanks so far Foxy.

364620 2005-06-17 10:34:00 FoxyMX Because when this infection has arrived is when the icon has appeared in the systray otherwise java is not indicated. OK. customisable element I agree.

A little judicious tinkering is cheaper than 350ml of Jeyes Fluid........m

364621 2005-06-17 10:42:00 I can,but what then? Can't see anything about plug ins.The plug-in is enabled in Internet Options in Control Panel under the Advanced section. Java only runs when you visit a page that requires it.

The reason I directed you to the Java control panel is to clear out the cache and to check whether you needed any updates.

You may need to reboot for the MajorGeeks update to take effect. Open the AVG control panel and have a look to see what it says.

Well that could very well happen I guess but I have not seen it myself. The icon shows when Java is running unless the viewing of the icon is disabled.

364626 2005-06-17 11:05:00 OK Foxy take yr point I don't have Jave disabled but the icon only shows, in my experience, when JVB has arrived. But OK not all the time. This is what makes comps fun to me.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,m :D mark c (247)
