| 364591 | 2005-06-17 09:45:00 | Hi All We are on Xtra 1GB plan & have 'gone over' by 200. I assume that means we are now on 56modem speed. Yes? Where do I look on this XP Home m/c to check it out. The only thing that shows is the network connection spped of the ethernet. Thanks. PJ | Poppa John (284) | ||

You can also check your speed here - www.jetstreamgames.co.nz You don't always drop straight away if you go over your limit, so you might still have the default speed. Did you get an email stating that you have gone over and will be dropped in speed? |

When we were on modem we could access the connection, showing line speed etc. Now on broadband, neither of our networked comps show this. No we have not had anything from Xtra regarding our usage. Metla thinks that our speed IS down due to our overusage. But where does it show that? PJ |

| 364595 | 2005-06-17 10:08:00 | I'm not with xtra, but wouldn't their usage meter page found here (xtra.co.nz) show your current status? Also, that speed test URL I gave above should show your download speed at dialup if that is the case. | Jen (38) | ||
| 364596 | 2005-06-17 10:20:00 | Jen ... We do normally check our usage weekly. We have a desktop icon to take us straight into the usage site. This one snuck up on us tho. Did the speed test & got :- Your line speed is approx 86808.5Kbps or 10638.3K bytes/sec. From that I guess we are still on hi speed? I did notice that rhe 1024 usage band is in blue, & the ''over'' band is in red. We are halfway along the red box. Maybe when we 'hit the wall' we will get a speed reduction. | 364597 | 2005-06-17 10:34:00 | You dont "always" get a speed reduction. Only if they notice, and its habitual. Plainly one of you two needs you be banned from downloading and surfing for the rest of the billing period. Can I get to choose which? :) Eeny, meeny, miney, mo .... |

We are usually well inside our limit. Perhaps there is an "Averaging Out" process. As to 'one off line' there IS no choice. Being such a nice husband it will be me volunteering. Isn't that right Dear? Maryann says it cannot be her doing, just uploading & downloading the odd photo (thousand?) PJ Anyway thanks to both of you. New period starts in 4 days, will see what happens then. PJ |

I have gone over 2GB a month, for the last 4 months and never been slowed. |
