Have opened every program but all work. System has 512 mem. How do I idnetify the offending program and or get rid of this message upon start up? Assistance would be gratefuly received thanks

Also, is that the -exact- error message?

364983 2005-06-18 10:39:00 If you are running a version of windows that has it, run msconfig and click on the startup tab - this will give you a list of all programs set to run on startup (there are several ways to make a program start on startup. if it is a malicious app, it probably won't be in the startup folder) Greven (91)
364984 2005-06-18 10:43:00 Any 'issues' with my computer or the comps I manage the first thing I usually do is give them a thorough cleanout by removing temp files, temp internet files, cookies and history. Then CCleaner. Then drop into Safe Mode and run the maintenance, maybe not the defrag. Simple stuff OK. But I've never had to take anything to the shop. Been running my 3 comps and numerous friends/acquaintances comps for 5 years and they all run like trains.
I sincerely believe that with the most elementary maintenance and precautions 99% of users will have no trouble.

Trains? Slow to get moving, easily derailed and slow to stop?

364987 2005-06-18 11:43:00 If you are running Windows XP, I don't think any 16bit programs can run on it's type of file system. i might be wrong but I think 16bit programs are usually something like DOS or earlier Windows.. Can you remember trying to install an old Windows program? Or any other person that has access to your computer. If you can remember then you probably would have had trouble trying to install or start it. procosm (6108)

364989 2005-06-18 22:40:00 Godfather gives good advice, check wants starting up on machine boot, a spyware check might be usefull as well use adaware or spybot.

If you need more info on spyware checking out the forums FAQ.

16 bit programs will run on xp (at least most will).
