364788 2005-06-17 21:51:00 I have been looking at a number of the personal digital video records, mostly linux based like those found at www.mythtv.org and the question I have is this - what frequencies does sky tv broadcast at (I run saturn cable that might be more relevant) what are the best tv capture cards, and can I change channels with teh capture card and do any on-the-fly decoding?

Essentially I would like to bypass the decorded and record direct so as I dont have to be there to change channels.

Interested to see if anyone has done anything like this.

Also, I am aware that Sky are bringing out new decorders with integrated storage but I also want to rebroadcast throughout my house.

Cheers

364789 2005-06-17 22:46:00 Most tuners can't decode Sky TV. You would most probably have to have video in on the tuner and plug Sky thru it somehow, so you could record off it.

Some tuners come with remotes, but the remote will most probably only work with the program it came with. BUT u can change channels (for free to air programs), and record with the remote.
