Been doing some videoing on my camera, and have thought maybe i should put all videos i do like this on disk . . . . . . . . . . . . . . there lies the problem if i want to watch on telly i need a DVD player / burner do i not????

so peach hasnt got one, i didnt think i would need one .

and can i put photos / video on the same thing and just push play and it runs like a dvd / video?

and how much is a DVD burner? does it need a program to make it compatible for my kids photos and videos of them to go on same disk?

im not going to pirate stuff . . . . i just want my memories of my children to be accessable to others . . . . maybe i could these as presents? the disks i mean . . . of our children .

like all original stuff still on comp but as a back up and better availbility for others . . .

can i play these on playstation or will i need a actual DVD player?

365193 2005-06-19 02:24:00 You could use a video card with video out and connect it to audio/video in on the TV .

BUT yup . if u want to put whatever on DVD, you need a DVD burner .

A CD-burner will work with photos, if whatever u burn is less than a cd / 700 mb . Any program will burn to DVD . I use Nero and Nerovision myself for this .
for burning photos/Videos to DVD . You can also make menus/titles for your videos/photos before u burn them to DVD .

(I think most programs can do this anyway) .

The only prob is, not all external / standard DVD players, can play burned DVD's . BUT an internal PC DVD player would help, if you're going to burn things to a DVD .

You can get a dual layer DVD burner, which can use normal blank dvd's for $100-150 now . Not too dear at all .

Make sure what ever program you use will let you put the photo's not only as a slide show but index them seperately so somebody else can pull them of the dvd to edit, print them etc.

not necessarily, you could make a VCD using your existing cd burner this should play in a dvd player (I don't know abour ps2 or Xbox), it will only take 700mb of data, and there are free programs out these that can do this type of thing, although others here would probably have a better idea of how to use them than i would

365197 2005-06-19 06:09:00 Hi beetle. re: maybe i could these as presents? the disks i mean...of our children.. Gently does it with the CD's of photographs. I have 16 grandchildren with proud computer-literate parents and, I hate to say it, lord only knows how many gift CD's. Scouse (83)

I have a Lite-On CD burner that I am very happy with and was about to rush off and buy that DVD burner until I read this page (www.atomicmpc.com.au) that Dragonslayer posted the link to the other day about its performance. :(

365199 2005-06-19 07:51:00 are you referring to video made on your digital camera? (rather then on an actual video camera)

If so then no DVD writer needed, just author to VCD (Video CD) . They files you have will be heavily compressed so don't expect fantastic results when viewed on TV . Fire up Nero, select Video CD, nominate the vids, sit back and relax for 4 minutes, pop the finished cd in the DVD player .

If you have a movie camera then step one is to transfer it to the comp, Using a capyure card if its an anologe camera, Firewire if its digital .

Step 2 is to burn to DVD,in which case you will need a dvd-writer .

Well I have had a CDRW and now have the DVDRW and have never had a problem. Written various things to various media. However it pays to use good quality blanks.

365201 2005-06-19 08:26:00 If you're worried about PS2 being able to play VCD/SVCD, Nero has the option to burn to 'MiniDVD'. Agent_24 (57)
