365770 2005-06-21 08:41:00 Hi there!
Any ideas how to install mike connector in front, but not USB? And BTW trying to activate headphones instead of speakers and they don't work. Tried different sets. It must be in the program.
Thanks for ideas. Taly

365771 2005-06-21 10:07:00 Taly..... I believe there is a "proper" way of doing it by connecting to the appropriate place inside the "Tin Box".
However mine is like this. Get one or more short extension stereo leads, plug/socket same as is in the back of the Tin Box.Try for a panel mount socket end. In the Drive blank plastic frontplate, drill a suitable sized hole. Fit the socket end here, run the lead thro the box & out of any hole in the back. Plug into appropriate socket & away you go. There should be three sockets at the back, Microphone, Speakers, Line Input. Three different colours. PJ

The settings may also be in your soundcard settings (sometimes, there's an soundcard icon which appears on the taskbar).

365773 2005-06-21 11:52:00 Most motherboard with onboard sound have the connectors, and modern motherboards have everything well layed out & marked out. I always have to consult the manual whenever I have to do anything with my old PII. Every PCI sound card I've encountered has the front pannel connectors.

If you connect it up properly, windows will mute the rear outputs when you plug something in front, but all the linux distros I've tried leave both front & rear outputs enabled.
