365358 2005-06-19 23:37:00 Hello,

I am wanting to get a TV tuner card that has great picture and sound quality, is able to save them onto the hard drive in quality good enough to burn onto a DVD. I would also want one with a BT chipset. I am only familiar with the Leadtek cards. The Deluxe sounds great but is no longer available. The RM has the chipset I want but no stereo sound and no FM tuner.(Although there are plenty of radio stations streaming live online). I would like to spend under $150.

ANy advice much appreciated

Cheers

365359 2005-06-19 23:53:00 Try these sites for some good reviews

www.tv-cards.com

and

www.videohelp.com

Both are very helpfull. I would recomend getting a card that supports hardware encoding.

365360 2005-06-19 23:53:00 Well leadtek deluxe cards are still available if youre in NZ.

Where are you? The leadtek deluxe and expert both have FM/TV and remote.

The only diff is the expert has stereo TV, the deluxe hasn't. Both have programs that let u save / record whatever to the hdd, or burn directly to DVD. I use the deluxe and expert in the 2 PC's here. They're great.

365361 2005-06-20 02:00:00 Try any of the Hauppage PCI PVR cards, they are excellent. The Brookdale BT series cards are common and there is a lot of support for them. They really aren't that good though.
The Hauppage cards have hardware mpeg2 encoding so the recorded video is already in the correct format to put straight on to a DVD.

cant think of any other reason why you would want a TV Tuner with a BT chip.

365364 2005-06-21 22:27:00 I am in Levin. Have tried to find a DELUXE on the net but no joy. Is the RM without the FM have better drivers and software i.e more modern moovet (8382)
365365 2005-06-21 22:55:00 Try looking on trademe.

I brought my Leadtec deluxe card from ETC Computers for around $115 online if i remember rightly. It was the cheapest at the time. Bloody good card for what its worth. If you get one make sure you download the latest drivers off the Leadtec site and load them up before you install the card. It can save alot of problems on some computers. Other than that i like this card alot. I mainly got mine for capturing video from my Hi8 anolouge camcorder though.

If i was to get another card I would get one of those Hauppage PCI PVR cards. Mainly for the hardware encoding capabillities of them.

365366 2005-06-22 04:38:00 Have a look through Pricespy (www.pricespy.co.nz). There are a few delux cards listed near the bottom of the list. 4bes (2848)
