365336 2005-06-19 11:41:00 I received this invoice from Woosh:
sal.neoburn.net
If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader you will be able to veiw it. There is a free download from there web site.
The month of May was meant to be free, if you joined up by at most early May. I applied on 19-05-05. Since I live in Invercargill and mail takes longer from Aucland, when the direct debit form arrived from Woosh for my account to be debited on monthly charges, it was Saturday of the start Anzac weekend. I could not get to a NZ Post shop for a moneyorder, to pay for the antenna and modem, until Tuesday. At that time I sent it with the direct debit form. I used the prepay woosh envelope. I suppose I could have used my own and sent it by Faspost, but chose the prepay envelope. I got an email on the next Saturday saying my account would be disabled if the direct debit form did not arrive by Sunday. Next email confirmed it had been disabled. Phoned on Sunday the help person could not get my account information. Phoned on Monday I explained why it took longer than normal too arrive and was told my account was reenabled. This event reenabling my account was enough reason for Woosh to be able to cancel the free May fees, in my case. They also told me that because I had sent a moneorder instead of a bank cheque they would have to debit the modem/antenna cost from my account instead, but depending on who I spoke to could not be exactly certain because some persons did not seem certain. As it turned out they did accept the moneyorder .
So because they disabled my account and reenabled it again, called: "Change of Plan Charge", technically they were able too effectively cancel the free May offer in my case, even though this was the plan: "Express 1", I applied for in the first instance.
So what do you think of that? Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Have a look at the link above to see the invoice they sent me (deleted my account number and some other personal information) and make up your minds.

365337 2005-06-19 11:59:00 I think that woosh is in the right legally, but they have a moral obligation to wipe the charges. If they want a successful trial in a small town like Invercargill, they will have to live to the spirit of the law, not just the letter of it.

I would be interested to hear why you chose woosh - I'm surprised they are getting so many customers when their monthly charges are so much higher than ADSL.

The reason i chose woosh is because I decided to do without a telephone. On Express 1 the cost is $39.95/month. Previously I had slingshot dialup $16.95/mth so 16.95+42=$58.95 ($42 telecom charge). With Woosh I thought pricewise overall I would be better of.
Also I heard there might be the availability of Voice Over IP, so I could still have a telephone. I have also been thinking about Skype.
