2005-06-21 22:11:00 | Sounds like you have a hacker in your system. Do you have a hardware firewall (if on adsl)?. Add a software firewall as well. Then run all your antivirus scans | Myth (110) | |
2005-06-21 22:39:00 | Googles show a bit for this error message. It seems to be associated after installing some software and indicates that the process hasn't shutdown cleanly so was terminated. What was the last software update/install that you did? Has the message re-occured on subsequent shutdowns? | Jen (38) | |

2005-06-22 01:20:00 | Johnboy: I will do some online scans today.. I was too knackered last night. I have spy bot, ad-aware and use the zonelabs fw + ms security firewall. I run Ccleaner regularly. Mythix:  I am concerned about hacker issues. I had a similar message as the one I have now several weeks ago ( same as this one for symptoms.. lovely little fischer price coloured window) .. that message said " working on it"! I am only running the above firewalls and am using dsl-302g modem. Jen: I do have an incident here. I reinstalled TotalWar "shogun".. it advised me that an unistaller progran was already running and to cancel that process. I looked but I had nothing else installing or uninstalling. Returning to installing TW, it now said that the uninstall file was corrupt and that I may not be able to uninstall the program.. I then tried a install of the full program. same message given. My google search was on the phrase noted.. I only got the one link as quoted.. I will try again today and see if I can get some more background on this. Microsoft had nothing.. but I hav'nt pestered the xp user forums as yet. I will now go and do the ad-aware and spybot tests in safe mode. Will let you all know what happens. I have not seen the message in three shut downs since. I have just gotten on line and came here first to see what insight I could gleen. Thanks for the support rekking

2005-06-22 05:47:00 | I doubt a hacker would make a popup window appear.. thats far too boring. If it were a hacker, something would be missing, like your entire HDD contents by now ;)

2005-06-22 07:57:00 | :waughh: I could get it all ready in advance.. only have to ask! everything on here is probably nicked off the net anyway :D :xmouth: :o I am only concerned that a "nuisence" is being one. So far I have run onlines from Panda (connection to server cut after about an hour and a half!) Windowscom "Trojan scanner" has been going for almost two hours now. and the Sygate has advised me( more technically) that I'm dressed ok but my pants have gaping holes ( ports open everywhere, which is disconcerting as I went to some ( can't think at the mo) trouble to get a "stealth" status from GRC some weeks back. Spybot came up nil, Ad-Aware came up with the usual nine tracking cookies ( idg ..lol) AVG scan came up clear too. FREEkin formats Batman'... when I started with computers it was dos 6.0.. the only worry was viruses on 5 1/4 (real floppy) disks! i'm feeling old.

2005-06-22 08:24:00 | No need to be paranoid, that "You should not see me" message is part of a Windows installer problem, and will certainly be related to the failed Shogun installation. Started with DOS 6? You are young! I started before DOS (CPM) but began assembly language programming under DOS 1.1
