366035 2005-06-22 02:57:00 I wouldnt worry about those temp files Overdrive_5000 (4950)
366036 2005-06-22 03:10:00 Any time you have a document open Word creates a temp copy of it, usually you can't see it as it has the hidden attribute (must have view hidden files enabled under folder options).

Anyhow, as soon as you finish your document and close word the temp files will all (by magit...w00t w00t111) disappear....

366037 2005-06-22 03:12:00 those tmp files are most likly just copies of your saved work. handy if you loose it or you need to go back to an early ver. normally tmp files are hidden but you proberly have your pc set to show all files which is basic sicurity 101.

edit- snap by metla ;)

Well, I don't know how you do it beetle, but as advised on three previous occasions, go search for * . tmp or * . wbk files with a distinctive word or phrase from your missing work . It is 99% certain that it still there somewhere, provided you don't reboot, or clear your temp files automatically .

From the sound of your 30 or so tmp files, maybe you forgot to do the "save as" at the beginning . Perhaps you need to be saving each new WP file you create to a floppy in A: then transfer a copy to your document folder when finished until you get to grips with file management . Computing isn't meant to be this hard .

I am sympathetic to your problem, but it mostly seems to be operator error, not your computer . Maybe Metla or another local PF1er needs to come around and watch over your shoulder to see if they can pick where the problem lies . I'd willingly help, but I'm a few hundred Ks too far away . Good luck .

Cheers

In a sense we all share Beetle's problems - everyone has a booboo sometime.
I hereby appoint Billy T as resident Beetle-minder, so that she doesn't have to nip across town to Metlaville ( and so avoid buying new gear..)
