366798 2005-06-24 12:04:00 hi everyone,
i'd really appreciate it if someone could help me with this problem,
ive just bought a capture card to transfer some old family weddings vhs onto dvd,
ive set all my cables up correctly, ive used a scart from my vcr into my card to connect to the audio left and rights and the video in, and also connected my card to my sound card via the line in socket as was directed by my capture cards manual,
i open power producer and use the burn direct to dvd option using the manuals guide,
everythings fine, theres a preview of what my vcr is doing, theres great picture and full sound,
all i have to do now is press record and away i go,
when my dvd has burnt theres no sound to it,
every option i have chosen is fine except one box which may be the problem but i dont understand it,
next to the recording from 'analogue video' there is a tool box where i have to choose my device which is my capture card and also my audio source, in there there is mono mix, stereo mix, aux,tv tuner, line in, cd player, mic and phone line,
ive chosen them all and still can not get any sound,
can anyone help? ive wasted 10 discs up to now and am getting desperate,
many thanks in advance !!

366799 2005-06-24 23:33:00 Line in should be selected for the audio source .

The audio should be coming from the VCR to the line in socket of the soundcard . Make sure line in is ticked in sounds/recording in windows .

So, it picks up the audio from the VCR . Dont use the scart .

If the VCR has RCA plugs for video, just use these . Plug the video out from the VCR into the capture card if the capture card has RCA inputs, and plug the RCA audio out from the VCR Audio out, to Line In, With a RCA/stereo adapter .

If Line In on the soundcard has a stereo plug input (most do) .

What version of Windows are u using?

Modern cards have so many options and so many possibloe inouts and outputs that some of the back panel sockets have multiple functions. But they can't do them all at once. Maybe the "Line In" is set up to be a speacker channel output. ;)
