366680 2005-06-24 06:34:00 Selected a drive from My Computer, and music disk starts to play but for the first minute or so (while the disk light is blinking) there are background clicks or very short distortions. All is OK after the light goes out but the same thing happens when the programme selects the next track.
This happens on both drives; a samsung comby, and a new samsung player (just been fitted) 52X.
The sound on all other music programmes is excellent.
Appreciate any clues.

366684 2005-06-24 10:29:00 servral things here. firstly try analogue, it could be just a crap drive. also can be a player problem, try another player. also antivirus sometimes can interfere. also sometimes cd drive auto run upsets the playing and finally IDE problems which can include cable problems, drive glitch (some like to be master instead of slave) or driver problems (eg motherboard drivers not installed, dma not enabled, cd drive running in pio mode).

hope that helps a tad :)

366685 2005-06-24 10:36:00 Does this happen with all/most music CDs? it could just be a low quality recording - I've got a couple of CDs that do that in any drive, but I don't have a problem with any other CD in my collection.

Is the CD copy protected?
