367024 2005-06-25 09:16:00 I have a multiboot setup with Windows 98, 2000 and XP

Unfortuntly XP hasnt registed windows 98.

How would i go about adding windows 98 to the XP boot.ini file?

Or is it likely that a linux distro (suse or ubuntu) would find windows 98?

For the record, these are all installed on seperate partions, and i installed 98 then 2k then xp (in that order), and xp does register 2000

hope that makes sense

367025 2005-06-25 10:50:00 It should be similar to this

www.microsoft.com

Except C:\=“Windows 98” would be whatever partition 98 is on.

And if you want 98 to be first on the list, put this entry above 2k /XP.

367026 2005-06-25 12:20:00 hmm, i tried what the article said, and windows 98 with a few other wierd symbols came up, but when i selcted it, it froze then automactically restarted.

my current boot.ini file looks like:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000" /fastdetect

i tried adding windows 98:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 98" /fastdetect

Note: windows 98 is on the same disk(1) as 2000, and in the first partition.
After adding this and selecting windows 98 from the boot screen i got an error msg saying something like this

File is missing or corrupt
<root>System32/hal.dll
please install the missing file

Any ideas/solutions?
