367145 2005-06-26 08:26:00 I am trying to install a modem in a Compaq Deskpro (P2) running WIN98. Win detects the hardware okay, and I go thru all the setup procedure, but end up with IE/outlook express being unable to find the modem. There is a yellow ! against the "PCI Modem Enumerator" in the System Device Manager list.
I get the message:"The NTKERN.VXD,CONFIGMG.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not load the device driver (code 2)." Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you include installing the drivers for the modem (either downloaded or off the supplied CD) as part of your setup procedure?

367147 2005-06-26 19:28:00 Hi Jen
I've installed them, reinstalled them, uninstalled them, so many times that I could do it in my sleep. I have also tried the ideas on WIN help, such as altering the video settings and accelleration, but with no luck.

367150 2005-06-26 21:19:00 ER........WAS wondering why when installing on a win98 system you are getting the message " NTKERN.VXD'......etc.........isn't that windows NT kernel. ?....in which case why is it popping up in win98 ?......or am I wrong ? drcspy (146)

Seeing the "NTKERN.VXD" error suggests that trying a different driver should be first place to look
