| 1387493 | 2014-11-01 22:06:00 | Windows 7. Have run many anti malware programs and removed unnecessary programs and PUPS with no effect. Every day or two the setting "Allow Wake Timers" gets changed from "Disable" to "Enable". Last night I set it to "Disable" at about midnight, clicked apply checked that disable was still showing, clicked OK. and put the computer to sleep. The computer was awake when I got up! There are no scheduled tasks due to run at night. What could be causing this behaviour? I just looked and the setting has changed in the last 2 hours! |

I unplugged the thumb drive and the computer has stopped waking in the night. Well, that worked for a while... The trouble is that I wake when the Computer does, and that annoys me. I searched the internet some more and found,_ "Remove_Allow_Wake_Timers.reg", which does exactly that; it removes "Allow Wake Timers" from the registry. Just remember to backup the registry first, like I didn't You can find the utility here,_ www.eightforums.com |
