1386913 2014-10-27 06:33:00 Hi.

I have a few folders containing lots of pictures. For some reason Windows 8.1 creates dividers in these folders. Possible names of dividers are: "Earlier this year", "Last week", "Yesterday".

How can I get rid of these dividers?

Many thanks for your help.

1386914 2014-10-27 07:49:00 hi Cyberhuskey,

What you seem to be explaining is the 'Group By' filter which relies on the 'Arrange By' option in your context menu. Change your Arrange By option to I believe the default is Name and then Group By to None.

Cheers,

KK

P.S. Just seeing if this place has changed a lot.

I like the option for my download folder, makes it easy to find the files I just downloaded.

1386916 2014-10-27 17:36:00 Thanks for your replies.

It works somewhat - dividers go away but also the sorting according to dates. I want to be able to sort folder's pictures according to dates and that there are no divider titles visible such as "Yesterday", "Earlier this week", "A long time ago", etc.

Is there an option? Many thanks.

1386917 2014-10-27 21:56:00 That would be "sort by" as opposed to "group by" - it's in the same right click context menu. I'm at work stuck with XP now so I can't try it to confirm. On Xp it's "arrange icons by" Also if you change the view type to details a header shows up and you can click the various columns to sort by them - each click inverts the sorting from ascending to descending.

there are probably other ways to do this, windows tends to have multiple options for these functions in my experience. For example in XP I see these options are in the view menu at the top of explorer as well as in the right click context menu and there is an icon on the right hand side with a drop down box for view types.
