1374233 2014-05-06 05:21:00 Have 4 x 2TB HDDs about 3 years old from a DVR. Are they worth trying to sell?
Our council has taken over our community CCTV and contractors have just replaced them all.
Thanks

What exactly are they? And what sorta money would you want? I have no backup of my HTPC media so this could work...

1374235 2014-05-06 07:21:00 $30 for the larger size perhaps? A few mnths ago I sold a sealed brand new. WD 500gb black $65 - from warranty so fresh manufacturer date a month old. Nomad (952)
1374236 2014-05-06 16:54:00 They might be high end AV type hard drives. $30 ?? are you joking probably worth at least $75-$100 each as used, it depends on how many hours of usage they had. apsattv (7406)
1374237 2014-05-06 20:00:00 Would you seriously pay $75+ for a 3 yr old drive? Coming from a CTV DVR my assumption is they've been running constantly for that time as well. They are only worth what someone is willing to pay and 2nd hand hard drives are a tough thing to sell.
A new 2TB AV drive is worth around $180 and has a 3 yr warranty www.pp.co.nz for example but who'd spend $100 for a 3 year old drive when a brand new standard one is only $30 more with a 2 yr warranty www.pp.co.nz

Tough to gauge a value on something like that but I always consider I'm competing with the cheapest new option when selling 2nd hand goods not the current price of that specific item. I'd suggest $30 is a bit low and $75 is about the max but thats just for me personally if I was shopping 2nd hand. I'd split the difference and try for about $50 myself.

1374238 2014-05-06 22:34:00 New 2T drives can be bought for less than $120
pricespy.co.nz

$50 or less seems fair. No matter what spec its still a used drive .

See how much they sell for on on trademe , thats the best indication of value. You can search expired listings.
nb actually selling on trademe, not some silly price that too many seem to try for on TM ;)

1374239 2014-05-07 00:21:00 Thanks for input - just checked and they are:
Western Digital 2 TB SATA HDDs
Manufactured July 2011
Will try on TM for $150 for the 4 of them - our association may as well get something for them v the dump!
