1374033 2014-05-02 09:03:00 We have too many highly paid politicians squabbling like kindergarten kids!
We should sack at least half of them, then ensure that those remaining earn their money and confine there activities to representing the public who pay them.

I would like to see an end to party politics and general elections. Prospective politicians should stand for available positions and the public should vote for a suitable candidate for the job. In the event that the chosen one proves to be a waste of space only that post would be re-voted for. There could still be political parties, but the party would not be voted for, only the individual considered to have the necessary qualifications and policy for the job. The position of Prime Minister should also be voted for and could be changed if he turned out to be like the present incumbent!

1374035 2014-05-02 10:06:00 There is more inteligence & commonsense in your average kindergarten than in parliament. I aggree with Mzee. PJ Poppa John (284)
1374036 2014-05-02 19:45:00 Well in the 1999 election, by way of referendum, 81% of the voters agreed the number of politicians should be reduced to 99. Unfortunately, the referendum was non-binding and not one nose was removed from the trough.

In another thread HERE (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) I have posted from time to time screen shots of Parliament in session and as you can see you’re lucky to get 10 or so to actually attend. The rest are probably touring overseas at our expense.

So yes, we definitely need change. :annoyed:

1374038 2014-05-02 20:55:00 Don't forget, while they are sniping industriously at each other, they are easing up a little on the general public. R2x1 (4628)
