From their FAQ page
www.budgie.co.nz

"We are a division of Bosco Connect Ltd which is wholly owned subsidiary of Mighty River Power Ltd."

"We will hold your price for 12 months from the date of sign-up.

At the end of that time we again offer you the lowest price on Powerswitch and fix it for another year.

There are no contracts and you can leave at any time."

They do have a fault phone number, though it's only on their FAQ page, not their contacts page.

1373727 2014-05-07 20:18:00 I went ahead and made the switch from Meridian to Budgie Power (effectively Mighty River).

I compared my old rate with my new.

Uncontrolled got cheaper by 18%

Controlled within one cent of each other

Fixed daily rate got cheaper by 17%

Pretty smooth transition. Meridian made a one-off payment offer of $75 to stay, which I rejected.

I expect a savings of $300 to $400 a year.
