| 1386877 | 2014-11-07 01:59:00 | Don't iMacs have a recovery partition with their original factory OS on them? Try hitting command + R on restart and you should be able to reinstall your original OS. They don't have a recovery partition as such they have System Utilities which lives in the Applications folder( it would be the Programs folder if it was Windows) |

Beemer do you know anyone else with a MAC that is still running Mountain Lion? If you do you could get them to create a Mountain Lion recovery USB stick for you. support.apple.com |

| 1386880 | 2014-11-07 04:27:00 | Yes, I tried a reinstall and nothing changed at all. But how did you do that reinstall? If you used the build in recovery option then it would have downloaded and reinstalled Yosemite, you need to use something other than the built in recovery. That's why I asked if you could get someone with Mountain Lion to run OSX recovery tool to create a Mountain Lion recovery USB stick that you can boot from on your Mac. Once booted from that use Disk Utility to erase your internal hard drive so all trace of Yosemite is gone, Plus your data will be erased so make sure you have a backup!, then start the install of Mountain Lion. |

Or does Apple update the recovery partitions on their end as well? |
