www.dpreview.com

I've installed it and it appears to have some promise.

1374393 2014-05-28 09:58:00 I have used Lightroom. It is the photographer's software, it has revolutionalised many users. Ok, not all, some still prefer Photoshop etc etc .. whatever they do there to make you look more plastic etc.

I went to a seminar and this guy organises photography workshops to Easter Island, Namibia, Antarctica, Alaska, Bhutan etc. $10k per head. Many people myself included prefer LR than PS because it is single piece of suite despite being a single piece of software. You can download, you can organise images, keyword, star grade, thumb up, color code, make virtual copies and collections. You can develop and you can export to a file for printery or online or print yourself. It supports color calibration. You can edit one shot and click the others and sync the settings. I just stick to the main 2 - Lightroom and Photoshop for extensive work. You can pick your best 12 and print it all on one A4 for example or maybe just 4 or just 2 larger prints on an A3. Some pro's print multiple A3's if they have roll paper and a 44" width color printer and then trim/cut it afterwards. You can also do slideshows or even time lapse photography. Split tones, B/W looks etc. Once you finish LR you can export to PS for more editing ... It saves a copy right next to that photo in LR. So when you look at LR you see the LR version and the PS version right next to it.

PS Elements - not really althou depending on your uses it might substitute PS. But when you read the guides off magazines and online PS Elements might be limited.

1374394 2014-05-28 10:11:00 The guys promote efficiency. Each night before dinner they download images onto a laptop and synched to 2 external HDDs. 30mins they can shortlist images, fully prep them in time for tea. They said that 2-3mins tops per image and some of them have made double magazine page spreads and BBC Wildlife of the year. One thing to me is that LR or PS is very powerful but to me it's not authentic but that's just me. It appears people do that more often now, they might call it being creative. Like with a overcast day, darkening sky and then brighten and saturate the building to fake a sunlight :D Nomad (952)
