1373909 2014-05-05 11:20:00 Yeah Aero Snap, and Snipping Tool... that's about it really for me :p

Oh, and 64-bit! :D

Snipping tool... Alt+Printscreen is good enough for me if I just want one window.

XP came in 64-Bit too ;)

Pinning programs to the taskbar, thumbnail previews (which you can middle click to close), rearrangable taskbar, Start search... and there's tons more. ;)

Yeah I don't really use any of those...

1373911 2014-05-05 20:42:00 There's no doubt about it, W-ait is truly great for those it was designed for, to wit the executives and large shareholders of M$ . A fair few hardware manufacturers also benefited .

For users, the Emperor's New Clothes are revealed to be a bit under performing as regards weather protection etc, . . . . ;)

 Just using Windows 7 pretty much the same way I use XP. I find the new taskbar stuff annoying and turn it off.

1373913 2014-05-08 20:44:00 Not sure whether THIS (www.stuff.co.nz) should be in the laughs section or not.

Our intrepid Police Force are manfully trying to resuscitate it and certainly no wheeling it to the morgue.

a colossal failure in planning, since Microsoft first announced it was going to phase out support for Windows XP back in 2007," she said. Cant rush these things ya know :p

1373915 2014-05-08 21:28:00 If something is not broken, it does not really need fixing. :) M$ fixes are about as popular with users as the Vet's fixes are with dogs.W7 was a step up from XP in several ways, but as is traditional, bloated beyond logic, and it broke many perfectly good applications. W8 was apparently an experiment to see just how much the suckers could stomach, the answer being "lots".
If Microsoft were naval architects, they would be selling aircraft carriers that could land on aircraft. It would need truly massive aircraft, but the marketing would be bigger. ;)

Unsupported is a kind of broken. ;)

1373917 2014-05-08 21:48:00 Unsupported is a kind of broken. ;) Adding to that -- Its not only the system Support.

Theres more and more occurrences of new programs and websites not working in XP. As things develop around the world an OS that's to old will run into more problems.

MANY of the hardware manufactures no longer have XP drivers for new components, so if you wanted to replace a motherboard for example you're Tough out of Luck.

Had this just this week, a person phoned and said he had brought some new fancy camera, wont work with XP, the drivers & Software on the site only support W7 and above, yet worked perfectly fine on W8.1

M$ support is the kind of broken that money can't buy. The fix is to break free and kill the problem, avoid support and they can't take it away.

"If your leg is no longer broken, then crutches are just a hazard that slows you down."
W8 obviously needs something by way of help; euthanasia is probably the best course here. ;)
