1373840 2014-05-01 10:10:00 The VW Beetles had 6v 45 watt bulbs. When used in a P700 headlamp and the regulator cranked up to get around 70 watts from a 60 watt Lucas dynamo, then it was possible to get a somewhat decent light, in as much as 50mph at night was now possible. Terry Porritt (14)
1373841 2014-05-01 21:41:00 You clowns seem to forget Bosch 6v headlights on krautwagon veedubs. Beetle at 80kph in the dark headlights showed where you had been not where you are going

Sure you weren't driving backwards after a night at the Baggies?

Lol the good ol days when drink driving was a sport and not a crime and the traffic cops would let you off with a warning if you said you were a baggie. Most of the time it was leaving the baggies club for a feed after closing time that caused the problem.
Some numbnutz students I had on Basic Engineering course drove to CH CH for a burger from Woodie valley midweek lol, I wondered why they were so tired in the classroom.

1373843 2014-05-02 18:06:00 To be fair, Miller produced systems that gave even more intense dark beams. For example, the mighty Black Shadow capable of 120mph+ was originally fitted with a 50 watt Miller dynamo and a Miller headlamp with a 24 watt main bulb. This used to produce an intense dark about 6 feet in front of the bike so that at night it was dangerous to exceed about 40mph.
Who would question the English genius now?

1373844 2014-05-02 21:24:00 I found the Czechoslovakian manufacturer of electrical stuff called PAL to be of equally bad performance. The comment on the lucas generator bronze bush, I have seen them go to way over 200,000 miles before replacement they cost only a few dollars and took a second to get it out with a polished rod with grease on it. Jap alternator bearings wouldnt be much better if it all. prefect (6291)
