1373517 2014-04-27 06:35:00 What!!!??? Since when and by what measure???

Even Vodafone have better coverage than 2D and Vodafone coverage even in Auckland is poor compared to Telecom . There's a Vodafone dead spot outside Sky City, for instance - and that's only a few hundred meters from their head office!!

Whereas I can get coverage wherever I am with Telecom - including out at the golf course at South Head (where my buddies on 2D and VF ask to use my phone in the clubhouse because they have no signal!!!)

EDIT: That said, I do agree - go into a 2D store and buy a worldphone (a phone that will work on any network) since 2D seem to have a good range of phones, including the Nexus, and then plug the SIM from your choice of network into it . . .

Glad to see you got my point after all that johcar :)

From my experience I've found Telecom to be the best coverage and fastest over all ( my fiancees work phone is on Telecom) both our personal phones a on Vodafone .

From my understanding, 2 Degrees have their own network and also piggyback off Vodafone in some places .

1373518 2014-04-27 06:38:00 Surely if it is within 12 months there should still be some responsibility of this NZ retailer selling parallel imported goods (like The Warehouse) unless you are meaning imports we do oursslves or am I confused ....

I haven't really heard of any good reports about people getting good service when they have had problems after buying something that was parallel imported. The parallel imported policy seems to be "all care, no responsibility"

1373519 2014-04-27 07:42:00 What exactly is it that you are trying to achieve with your purchase, Greg?
I'm just after getting the phone I've decided on, the Galaxy S4 Mini, without having to pay the premium prices that the major retailers charge. I'll be sticking with 2Dg as I'm perfectly happy with their service and the connection price I pay each month, as well as their coverage. Having said that, I'll pay more to get confidence by buying at full retail if I have to from a reliable and known retailer.

I use my device relatively little each month... mostly texts and calls, and sometimes camera, plus a few apps. But its wonderful having the options, the carry-over data, and at this time I'd like a decent mid-range phone unit.

As mentioned, I won't consider any parallel imported unit, not anything not supported by Samsung's decent NZ warranty.

1373520 2014-04-27 07:49:00 I bought my last phone the S3mini from mobicity, unlocked and prompt delivery as well as cheaper than I could get it anywhere else a the time gary67 (56)
1373521 2014-04-27 11:52:00 Never. I do have family in Aus, but the comparable Nexus is the 4, and its outperformed and out-specced in almost every single aspect which count to me by the S4 Mini.

Maybe on paper, in reality it will be a slow bloated typical samsung experience with the S4 Mini. The N4 or the Moto G likely blow it out of the water in stock form for doing anything useful.

1373522 2014-04-27 11:52:00 out of interest, why the s4 mini and not the s3? I just swung for the s3 myself. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
1373523 2014-04-27 19:45:00 Both myself and my wife have S3 minis, they are great phones not bloated at all and quick. They also fit into a pocket where as the full size versions don't gary67 (56)
1373524 2014-04-27 21:09:00 . . . Now I just import myself . . . .

I was thinking of doing that, but found I was already here . . . ;)

Considering the good reports and comments from here and this comparison (www.phonearena.com), as well as saving some $$'s, I'm now rethinking and may well choose the S3.

S4 Mini, S3 Mini, S4 Mini, S3 Mini... Grr more thunking to do! :nerd:

A phone with a large enough screen to easily read but which fits in a pocket would be good. My two teenage daughters have S3 Minis which are a nice size but not particularly easy to read. My son has the S4 which he slips in his pants pocket and hasn't broken it yet but I doubt it'd fit a shirt pocket.

Have been thinking of upgrading and after reading this and another thread, am considering the Motorola G.
