1387791 2014-11-07 03:49:00 I don't know if it's also connected to my woes after upgrading to Yosemite, but for the past week or so I've been encountering problems when typing emails in Outlook.

I'll be typing away and all of a sudden it's like I've clicked out of Outlook because the typing stops and the section with the font, size, highlighting, etc and bullet points appears greyed out. I have to move my cursor and click back at the end of my text to start typing again.

I thought at first it was only doing it in plain text emails but I've just opened a new html email and had it happen several times. It's quite annoying and I don't know what's causing it. I tried Googling the problem and it's obviously not just me experiencing it, but none of the options seem to be applicable. One says to go into tools and then options but while my Mac has tools, it doesn't offer options in the drop-down menu.

Any clues as to what's causing it and any tips to stop it happening?

I'd say it's connected to the upgrade. You might want to give apple mail a try.

1387793 2014-11-07 06:26:00 Just reading some of the MAC forums.

Some have had similar problems. They found a cause was the mail box folders are to full of crap :)

Try emptying the deleted items and sent items, and if you have a lot of mail in the inbox reduce that as well.:2cents:

1387794 2014-11-09 19:18:00 I emptied out as much as I could yesterday (the deleted folder is emptied every day and the sent folder every week or so) but just got one line into an email and the same problem happened again. This time the last word I was typing appeared on screen but then vanished and I had to click back at the end of the last word that was there. This is going to irritate the hell out of me if it continues! Beemer (6956)

If that is happening then my guess is that Outlook 2011 for Mac hasn't been updated for Yosemite. Try an alternative. I'm on Apple mail and it's running smoothly on Yosemite.
