| 1480951 | 2021-09-29 22:20:00 | I have an old Nikon 401F SLR and also a Canon ELPH (remember them?). They have absolutely no value these days and I suspect you can't even get film for them unless you dig deep into the recesses of the interweb. (Post initial post update - do a search for "Kodak film" and it seems to be quite widely available. Mind you, you still have to get it processed.) What do I do with them? I really don't want to just send them to the tip, but what is the alternative? |

I'm sure there are collectors, and Trademe may well be worth a shot, but while the ELPH may be of some interest, I suspect the Nikon isn't special enough to get someone's juices flowing. I'll check it out. | Tony (4941) | ||

| 1480957 | 2021-09-30 02:47:00 | Its a buyers market for film cameras on trademe. Average, run of the mill, film cameras have no real value . List them on trademe for $1 reserve . You might get $2 :) It may not be worth the effort for a few $ . |

You might get $2 :) It may not be worth the effort for a few $ . That's the thing. I feel really conflicted. One one hand I would like to be rid of it, but on the other hand it offends me to sell it for a pittance. I looked at your links, and even $50 is a bit of an insult. |

| 1480960 | 2021-10-16 04:39:00 | I still shoot film, I also shoot medium format larger size film . On Facebook you can sell the cameras . . . the group is called "New Zealand Analogue Photography Buy Sell" if in working condition you may get $50-150 for it with a lens I suppose . . . . The Canon point and shoot maybe less maybe $25-50 . You can sure still get film in NZ . Christchurch Photo and Video in Merivale . Wellington has Wellington Photographic Supplies Vivian Street and Photo Warehouse Manners Mall McDonalds across the road and Victoria Street behind the ex Farmers (called Splendid which is a film only lab plus digital prints no selling digital cameras) . Auckland has Photo Warehouse and Auckland Camera . Auckland film labs are PCL, Black and White Box and The Film Lab . A Wellington lab guy came to present to us at a camera club said 80% of his clients are under the age of 30yrs old . Look at Instagram they are not uncommon . Some specific cameras have rocketed up higher than brand new prices ie Contax T2 think $1,500 and up, Ricoh GR think $1,000 and up, and Leica rangefinders are holding values . Mamiya 7 and Linhof 617, Hasselblad XPAN are so expensive . Ditto Fuji GX617 panorama . These think $5,000 and over . |
