1477079 2021-05-10 03:15:00 A friend has recently moved to Brave Browser and is very happy with it.
I am on latest versions of Win 10. I currently use (for various purposes) the latest 64 bit versions of browsers Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera.

Before I "charge ahead" and download Brave does any one have any comments about it?
Also am I muddying waters too much by using so many different browsers?

Guidance please

1477080 2021-05-10 04:10:00 it removes ads from websites & substitutes its own ads. Allegedly

Seems like a dodgy business practice
That alone was the reason I'd never use it

so more hype than fact ?

""Your plan to use our content to sell your advertising is indistinguishable from a plan to steal our content to publish on your own website ((emphasis in original," lawyers for 17 newspaper publishers wrote in a cease-and-desist letter to Brave Software in April 2016."

An in depth article on it.
Basically Chromium under the hood.

Can't really see the point if it just substitutes it's own ads and am not fond of Chromium, I have Firefox and actual Chrome on my Linux...

Want privacy , dont use FB. Its that simple
if you use the internet , you dont have privacy. FULL STOP. Using another browser wont change that.

Your emails : they are scanned and analyzed , if its gmail(and some others) then your email is scanned and data used to target adverts to you.
The NZ GOVT passed a law requiring NZ email hosts to copy and save your email in case a govt dept wants a look at what youve been up to.

Your smartphones collect data . Thats why Android apps want permissions to things they dont need.
Windows10 collects data . Even your printer is collecting data & sending that back to the mothership .
Your smart TV , collects data . One brand of TV was caught recording conversations & sending that to 3rd parties
Yes, even your TV is spying on you .

VPN services are all to willing to collect data on your usage & give that to authorities , despite how they market their VPN service .
Brave Browser (and others) , snake oil . We've been conned. Dont believe the hype .

1477087 2021-05-11 03:35:00 I have been using Brave as my primary browser for the past 6 months.

I prefer it over any of the others out there :)

Tor browser looks interesting.
