1476712 2021-04-24 05:08:00 Is there a way I can rearrange the music on my PC other than the default, alphabetically.
I dont see any manner in which I can rearrange by say, file size.
Reason, when I transfer to a memory stick, its nearly always in the same order, so when played on my car stereo, its too familiar. Id like to shuffle or random play, but one car radio doesnt have that option.

Thanks John W

1476714 2021-04-24 11:23:00 If your car stereo has a line in or bluetooth you could always use a phone to play the music. I do that in the work van because the USB playback resets every time the van starts, so I hear the first song all day.
If the stereo supports playlists you may be able to make a random playlist but I've never really tried that myself.

Adding to gary's post came across this random generator. sourceforge.net

The problem is some of the car radios are to dumb to sort random music so they need a Guide as to how to play.

1476717 2021-04-28 04:37:00 Isn't it possible to add other columns to the Explorer view to include Genre, Playlength, Album, Artist? If so, you may be able to sort on those columns, and hopefully once the stick is transferred to the car it *might* just honour that sort order setting. Paul.Cov (425)
1476718 2021-04-28 05:29:00 car radios etc dont use Windows file explorer . :-)
You'll need to rename each individual music file .

also , some music players see 12 as coming before 2 (sorting via the first number/letter) ,so wont allways play in the expected order
That used to be an issue for me with audio books where the chapters would play out of order on media player eg 11 played before 2 .

You might be able to create a M3U playlist, and hope the music player knows what to do with it.
