In addition, Sir Bob is hardly a wannabe Fuhrer.

Perfectly true. I like Sir Bob a lot better though.

Suppress dissenting opinions , 1st step in a good dictatorship.
We are not talking about a saint. Being witty & well spoken is not a way to judge character .

Agreed its just Godwins law where any online discussion after awhile will invoke Hitler and the Germans in WW2.

1480515 2021-09-15 00:22:00 It’s hard to pick the best of Sir Bobs humour, but I’ll go for the time a Reporter got a blood nose and thick lip for interrupting Bob’s Trout fishing.

Naturally he was charged with assault and fined $1000, upon which he asked the Judge if he paid $2000 could he do it again?

1480516 2021-09-15 00:51:00 Fair comment 1101 in some ways, although I do not subscribe to suppressing opinion. Dissension is often necessary to reach a common ground on opposing viewpoints.

As long as that process is objective, and not subjective.

Don't you think on analysis that both referenced articles are subjective, hardly objective? I'm surprised Spinoff - generally champions of objective comment - published that article. The article by Jackson is largely self serving to suit her own ends as are most of her writings. If Jackson were an older and male writer, she would be immediately pounced upon and proclaimed as "male, stale and pale". It wasn't by chance that the picture accompanying her article is of a wrinkled, older Jones and a very attractive young lady was coincidental.

Having said that, I like reading Sir Bob's writings. His wit can sometimes be acerbic, and he sometimes says things I would like to have the courage (and where-with-all) to say myself. But entertaining? The reason I prefer reading his writings and not those of Jackson.

And B.M.'s post about the trout fishing? An absolute classic, vintage Jone's

1480517 2021-09-15 00:55:00 Leonie Hayden's summation of Jones was really 'on the nose' 1101, very good article, good on you for finding it and posting link.

Just read the second article you posted and that's really perceptive and cutting as well.

Very good effort.
